個人簡介
1992 年獲得美國匹茲堡大學民族音樂學博士。臺大音樂學研究所創所所長,現為特聘教授,是第一位獲得科技部傑出研究獎的音樂學者。主要研究興趣為南管和日治時期臺灣音樂史。前者包括南管曲目分類系統和創作過程、南管文化政策、南管社會史。後者包括日本音樂學者的臺灣音樂調查、唱片工業、廣播、原住民音樂生活的持續與變遷。與臺灣大學圖書館和漢珍公司合作完成「臺灣日日新報聲音文化資料庫」(2020),包括 36 筆報導、2 千多萬字關鍵詞,為重建日治時期臺灣音樂生活提供豐富史料。推動本所於 2015 年成立博士班。自 2017 年起協助本所推動亞洲樂舞文化與實踐系列課程,並自 2018 年起持續開授巴里島甘美朗課程,也為本校購入臺灣首套甘美朗克比亞(Gamelan Gong Kebyar)和皮影戲甘美朗(Gender Wayang),且協助學生正式成立臺大甘美朗樂團。

自1986年起參與國際學術會議發表。主辦以下國際會議:第四屆亞太民族音樂學會(1998)、與日本國立民族學博物館合辦之東亞78轉唱片會議(2008)、本所與香港中文大學音樂系合辦會議(2009-2011)、國際音樂學會東亞分會第二次會議(2013)。曾於2019年舉行盛大巴里島甘美朗樂舞展演,引起廣大迴響,繼而受邀為印尼國慶日晚會擔任演出,也為故宮南院印尼月開幕典禮擔任演出。今年(2022)6月臺大甘美朗樂團與世界各國共30個甘美朗隊伍受邀參與巴里島官方首度舉辦之世界文化節(Bali World Culture Celebration, BWCC)。
