Academic and Research Partners

The GIM continues its collaborative projects with domestic and international partners. Domestically,  GIM is the first institution that hosts the national Taiwan Musicological Forum in 2005. The GIM faculty is also active in establishing newly transformed Taiwan Musicological Society that has been adopted from the former Taiwan Society of Ethnomusicology. Our faculty members have collaborated with other departments such as Art History, Anthropology, Psychology, Information Engineering, and Biological Sciences.

Internationally, one of the major achievements of GIM in recent years is its increasing key status within East Asia’s musicological scenes. Not only GIM has played a key role in the study group for Music of East Asia under the International Council on Traditional Music and the establishment of the East Asian Regional Association of the International Musicological Society, the GIM also helped promoting the interactions among students by bringing students from Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and more recently China together. Long term collaboration with the Chinese University of Hong Kong has continued and has been expanded into a network among East Asian universities.
