Title: Pasiwali “looking toward the East”

Place:Room 506, Putong Lecture Building

Chalaw is an ‘Amis, Mandarin, and English language singer-singwriter from Hualien. His curiosity about his ancestors footsteps across the Pacific and Indian Oceans led him, after meeting Malagasy folk musician Kilema, to travel to Madagascar to co-write and produce Salama, an album in which he and Kilema explore their kinship as Austronesian people. Chalaw is also active in music education, serving as one of the mentors and coordinators of the Pasiwali Music Festival’s songwriting camp.

On 10/02 he will discuss Pasiwali, “looking toward the East”

Is it looking out when one leaves home, or looking toward a new dawn?

Come on 10/02 to find out!
