This lecture explores the contemporary reinterpretation of Korean traditional arts and interdisciplinary approaches grounded in tradition, focusing on IPKOASON’s creative practice based on pansori.

IPKOASON has continuously developed works that draw on the musical and narrative structures of pansori, preserving its core principles while reconfiguring them within contemporary performance contexts and diverse artistic languages.
The lecture introduces key projects, including the theatrical reinterpretation of wanchang pansori, the expansion of pansori-based creative methodologies, collaborations with media art and electronic music, and the development of bilingual pansori through international co-creation. Through these examples, the session shares insights into creative processes, methodologies, and strategies for circulation.

 In particular, a short live demonstration by a sorikkun and a gosu presents the traditional performance practice of pansori, while contemporary works are introduced through video materials. This structure allows for a clear comparison between tradition and its contemporary transformations. The session concludes with an artist talk and Q&A, expanding the discussion to include creative processes, collaboration, and international circulation.
