About
The Graduate Institute of Musicology at National Taiwan University was established in 1996 as one of the twelve academic units within the College of Liberal Arts. Initially offering a master's program, the institute expanded to establish a doctoral program in 2015. We provide a diverse, open learning environment alongside rich academic resources. Our institute emphasizes the development of interdisciplinary approaches to music research and values the rich interconnections between cultures. We foster interaction among historical musicology, ethnomusicology, anthropology, literature, philosophy, sociology, psychology, and other academic fields. While our research and teaching focus primarily on Asian musical cultures, we examine them through a broader international lens, recognizing Asia's contributions to the world through musicological approaches that are both interdisciplinary and global in perspective.
